Home prices rising more slowly, S&P/Case Shiller index shows

Home prices aren’t rising as fast as last year, according to a closely watched national index released Tuesday.

Prices in South Florida rose 6.2 percent in February from a year earlier, the S&P/Case Shiller home price index showed.

In comparison, prices grew 9.2 percent between February 2014 and February 2015.

“Home prices continue to rise twice as fast as inflation, but the pace is easing off in the most recent numbers,” said David M. Blitzer, managing director and chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices.
